Hello

Welcome to TrailBlazier Counseling!  I'm Mary Blazier.  We all go through times when we need to shape our own paths in order to experience something different, and I am no exception! I come to the counseling profession after having previously been a K-8 general music/drama teacher and a training and development manager for Disney Cruise Line. When COVID happened and the cruise industry shut down, I knew I needed to find a way to connect my love of the arts, education, psychology, and being there for others. Thus, my path to TrailBlazier Counseling was born!

As a member of the queer community myself, I understand the unique challenges that come with exploring and living an authentic identity.  I work with adults and young people who are thoughtful, curious, and often very aware of what they are doing - but still feel overtaken by anxiety, pressure, shame, fear, or an old protective pattern in the moment.

My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems and brought to life through experiential methods. Depending on the person and the day, that may mean talking and exploring your inner world, noticing sensations, drawing or collaging, playing a game, using music, walking outside, trying a small challenge, or practicing a new response together.

When I’m not with clients, you can find me simply hanging out with my wife and two children, gardening, playing board or video games, reading, cuddling with our cats and dog, convincing myself to exercise, going to a local event, or daydreaming about national parks.
I will bring curiosity, care, humor when it serves the moment, and meaningful challenge without forcing the pace. You remain a collaborator in deciding how we work.

I look forward to meeting you!

Why This Approach

Insight matters and experience helps it become usable.  I value the clarity that can come from understanding the brain, the nervous system, and the reasons a protective response developed. I also know that understanding alone may not change what happens when the response is activated. Experiential work gives us a supported place to notice, practice, and build trust in something new.
