Service Description

A mindfulness exercise can offer a useful pause. Developing a practice requires opportunities to experiment, notice what works, and apply mindfulness when life is not calm. Build Your Everyday Mindfulness Toolkit is a four-part series that moves from foundational understanding to practical use in the body, during difficult experiences, and throughout everyday life. Each virtual 60-minute workshop combines 45 minutes of accessible learning with guided practice, followed by 15 minutes of optional personal+group reflection time to consider how the material applies beyond the session. Workshop One: Foundations of Mindfulness Explore mindfulness as presence and awareness practiced with acceptance and nonjudgment. Learn about the window of tolerance and five modes of mindfulness: inner-focused, body-focused, outer-focused, visualization or meditation, and loving-kindness. Experience an introductory inner-awareness practice. Workshop Two: The Body, Breath, and Wise Mind Explore the relationship among thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and action. Practice body-focused approaches such as progressive muscle relaxation and mindful breathing, including extended-exhale and diaphragmatic breathing. Consider how body-based practices can support steadier responses and clearer choices. Workshop Three: When Mindfulness Feels Difficult What happens when slowing down brings attention to discomfort, pain, or an emotion you would rather avoid? Explore alternatives to pushing an experience away or becoming consumed by it. Practice turning toward experience with care, broadening awareness, recognizing and letting go, loving-kindness, and supportive visualization. Workshop Four: Mindfulness in Everyday Life Bring mindfulness beyond formal meditation. Practice observing, describing, and participating through the senses. Identify realistic opportunities to be present while eating, drinking, walking, showering, waiting, working, or moving through another ordinary part of the day. The series is beginner-friendly and does not require meditation experience, forced sharing, or a particular physical ability. Participants may adapt, pause, observe, or decline a practice. Rather than adding another demanding task to the calendar, the series helps people discover how mindfulness can become part of things they already do.
